Light Speed Multiple

Enter the light speed multiple that you want to convert. For example, enter 1.0 for the speed of light, enter 0.1 for one tenth the speed of light, and enter 2.0 for twice the speed of light. From and To Menus

From Menu In this menu, choose the medium through which your light is passing, for example one of these. speed of light (glass) speed of light (vacuum) speed of light (water) To Menu In this menu, choose the speed units you want to convert to, or choose a different medium if you want the ratio of light speed for two different mediums. Light Speed Multiple You Entered

The light speed multiple you entered in the input field, is shown here again as a number with the From medium added. If you entered a formula or a fraction in the light speed input field, your formula or fraction was calculated and reduced to this number. Control Buttons

The light speed converter has three control buttons. Decimal and Scientific buttons let you choose the output format, as one of these two: Decimal: -9999.1 Scientific Notation: -9.9991e3 Decimal Button – In this mode the converter will output in Decimal format whenever possible.

However, the converter will automatically output in Scientific Notation when the results cannot be shown properly in Decimal format.
Scientific Button – In this mode the converter will always output in Scientific Notation. Convert Button – Convert the light speed multiple that you entered above, by using any of these methods:
  • Click the Convert button
  • Select a different unit in the From menu
  • Select a different unit in the To menu
  • Click the Decimal or the Scientific button
  • Press Enter or Return on keyboard
tip   TIP: Scientific Notation is better for visualizing and working with big and small numbers, compared to decimal format.
